Wordless Wednesday—A Black Butterfly's Pretty Wings

I'm no fan of bugs—not even genteel lady bugs or butterflies with pretty wings. My girls, however, don't hesitate to get up close and personal looks at creepy crawlies (as I recounted in Girls Are Made of Snakes and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails, Too!), and so when they found this colorful Monarch fluttering about in our driveway, they couldn't resist picking it up and giving it a looksie. Isn't it lovely?

You have to have real talent to capture a moment like that!

and just wanted to follow up to my WW... no, he did not announce he meant to do it- he quick sat and hid his feet beneath the table and then was a gentleman and let everyone leave before him lol

  2. Wow, it is beautiful! :)

My kids, esp. my boy, would find it totally awesome if he can get a butterfly to land on his hand.

    Happy WW.

  6. Yeah girl, that's very beautiful. And I see you went and got all creative with the background and things, but...

  7. @Sheena: The black background is actually my nephew Miles' shirt. Mari was holding the butterfly out for me to take a picture, and he hopped into the shot at the last second, so his black shirt ended up being the background. Isn't that crazy?!

@Arlice: Girl, you know GOOD AND WELL I'm not holding that bug... LOL!!!!!! Mari is holding it... little daredevil. I took the picture, but then I was like, EW—I'm going in the house now if you're going to play with bugs!

  11. Yeah, I'm not big on flying, crawling, creepy things either LOL I like LOOKING at butterflies, but don't think I'd really wanna touch one. Kids have more daredevil in them than we do, huh? LOL When I was a kid, I'd touch just about anything... now, I'm like screaming at my hubby HONEY COME GET IT!!!! lol

That is a gorgeous butterfly tho! :)
